Q.  I’m thinking of offering a Blueberry work placement – what do I do?

A.  Contact us on phone or email and we will arrange to meet you, find out about the work you are doing and explore the placement potential. We look at the job roles and see what tasks will suit the people we support.

Q.  How do I get the right person working with me?

A.  We will match up a potential trainee with the role identified and bring them to meet you. You can do an informal interview and then we trial the placement.

Q.  How is a trainee supported?

A.  We support all our trainees fully with an onsite Jobcoach. This staff member is there all the time to begin with and then with the employers agreement becomes less involved as the trainee becomes more confident and competent.

Q.  What are the benefits of having a Blueberry work placement?

A.  We have so many positive experiences from employers that you can never tell the exact benefits brought to your workplace. Experience other employers have had include:

Finding a great new member of staff

Bringing some new positivity to the workplace

Free informal training for staff on the needs of people with learning and communication difficulties

A change of perspective

Increased productivity and staff happiness

More pride in the work you do

Q.  Can you really increase productivity?

A.  Yes. We often look at ‘job carving’ roles, so will look at where more simple jobs are being done by people who could be doing something else. An example of this in an office environment could include: shredding, recycling, franking etc., creating a great entry route for our trainee into the office workplace.
