Success Stories & Parent Feedback

Scott Lanaghan

“Two main things I’ve gained from Blueberry are work experience and friends. I work at Oscar’s/Biltmore in York as a chef. I enjoy working there, its mint. I can be flexible and go where I’m needed. I know all the menus which I also work on at Blueberry.  I like being a chef, it’s my dream job. I get on with the team and we have a bit of banter which is good. I feel proud and privileged to be part of the team.”

(Scott Lanaghan)

Scott has been working on relevant work and life skills in his sessions, working towards learning outcomes such as “increasing the number of key words he can read” (functional skills), “being a team player” (sport),  and “knowing the business of the organisation and requirements of the role” (employability). These are directly applicable to his work placement and have helped him develop in his role.

“Since joining the Oscar’s team Scott has come on leaps and bounds. He conducts himself in a professional  manner  and  has

integrated into the team with no issues. He approaches every task with a positive attitude and is keen to learn new aspects of the job. He is a valued member of our team and we enjoy working with him and watching him develop both personally and professionally”

(Fearne, Oscars manager)
